Safety at Viamoda
Viamoda is designed as a professional environment. Here is what we build toward that — and, just as importantly, what no platform can promise.
An 18+ platform
Viamoda launches as an adults-only platform. Date of birth is checked at sign-up, and people under 18 cannot create an account. Accounts identified as belonging to minors are restricted from using the platform, including messaging.
Verification on Viamoda
Certain professional accounts go through verification processes designed to reduce impersonation and abuse:
- Brands and agencies submit business information and documentation that is reviewed before a verified status is granted.
- Photographers are subject to identity verification requirements — carried out through a dedicated third-party identity verification provider using a government ID and matching selfie — before certain messaging on the platform is available to them. Viamoda receives a verification result, not your documents: we do not store government IDs, selfies, or dates of birth from this process.
- Models can complete a photo liveness check designed to confirm that a live person matching the profile photos is behind the account.
What verification is not. Verification reviews submitted information only. A verified badge is not an endorsement by Viamoda, and it is not a statement that a person or business is safe, trustworthy, or legitimate. No verification process can guarantee how someone will behave.
Content moderation
Photographs uploaded to Viamoda — profile photos, portfolio images, and posts — are screened by automated moderation systems. Content that violates our Community Guidelines can be removed, and repeated or serious violations can lead to account suspension or a permanent ban.
Working with people you meet online
Most collaborations in this industry eventually move off the screen and into the real world. Wherever you meet a collaborator — on Viamoda or anywhere else — these habits protect you:
- Do your own research. Look up a collaborator's work and presence outside the platform before committing to anything.
- Keep first meetings professional. Prefer public places, established studios, or shoots with other professionals present. Consider bringing a companion, and make sure someone you trust knows where you will be.
- Be wary of money requests. Legitimate opportunities do not require you to pay upfront fees, purchase a "portfolio package," or send money to secure work. Requests like these are a classic sign of a scam.
- Trust your instincts. If something about an opportunity feels wrong, you can always walk away.
- Agree on terms in writing. Usage rights, compensation, and expectations are easier to rely on when they are written down before a shoot.
